OccJ involvement in octopine consumption in vitro and in planta. (a) Overnight (16 hours) growth (OD at 600 nm) of A. tumefaciens WT B6 strain and B6-occJ::Gm mutant in AB minimal medium supplemented with octopine as a sole nitrogen and carbon source. (b) Abundance of octopine in tomato plant tumors (pmoles/mg of fresh weight plant tissues) induced by either A. tumefaciens WT B6 or B6-occJ::Gm mutant. Sampling was performed 12, 21 and 32 days post infection (dpi). In in vitro and in planta assays, mean values were calculated with four measurements collected from two independent experiments.
