From: High-Energy, Short-Duration Bursts of Coherent Terahertz Radiation from an Embedded Plasma Dipole

The maximum dipole field Edi at the dipole centre, the initial energy of the dipole per unit lateral length dUdi/dz and total energy of the radiation per unit lateral length dUrad/dz, as functions of the peak amplitude of the laser pulse a0 or total energy of the driving laser pulse per unit lateral length dUlaser/dz, obtained from two-dimensional simulations. The wavelength of the first laser pulse is λ1 = 1 μm. Three different cases of detuning with λ2 = 0.82 μm (circles), 0.88 μm (squares) and 0.95 μm (triangles) have been simulated. (a,c) Edi vs. a0 for ω p /2π = 20 and 10 THz, respectively. Theoretical curves from Eq. (4) fit the simulation data best with α = 0.7, 0.8 and 1.0 from the top to the bottom. (b,d) dUdi/dz (lines and grey markers) and dUrad/dz (coloured markers) vs. dUlaser/dz for ω p /2π = 20 and 10 THz, respectively. Theoretical curves from Eq. (5) fits the simulation data best with R = 0.6 (b) and 0.8 (d).
