XRD patterns of samples collected from inside the furnace, grown at 1020 °C for 40 min. (a) The C(002) graphitic peak, designated by a vertical line, corresponds to highly oriented graphite. The asymmetric shape of this peak suggests the presence of at least two types of graphite materials. A deconvolution analysis of the C(002) plane can be seen in Table SI-1 and explained in the text. (b) XRD signals attributed to Fe3C, α-Fe, γ-Fe, and graphite.
