Coherence FID signals in tilted fields (with pump light polarized in the 0 y direction). (a) Modification of the signals as the field is tilted away from the 0z direction and towards 0 y by an angle α. A bimodal character is clearly visible. (b) The ratio of the amplitudes of components A(ω L )/A(2ω L ) changes as tanα and can be used to determine the tilt angle (black squares). The inset shows the zoomed in low tilt angle region. Tilting of the field towards the 0 x direction results only in diminishing amplitude of the oscillations A(2ω L ) as the cosβ (red triangles). Error bars like in Fig. 3.
