High dietary salt intake enhances bone loss. (A) Experimental work plan. Mice were divided into 3 groups. The high salt diet group (HSD) mice received diet containing 4% NaCl in chow plus 1% in drinking water. The low salt diet group (LSD) mice were fed on diet having 0.4% NaCl in chow plus normal drinking water whereas normal mice were given a diet containing 0.8% NaCl in chow plus normal drinking water for 45 days.
