Opsonization for phagocytosis. Percentage of phagocytosis after opsonization of pRBCs -grown in group O (top panel) and group A RBCs (low panel)- with pediatric sera stratified by malaria clinical presentation (mild and complicated) and compared with Swedish adults controls. Scatter dot plots show the means and SD. Differences between the groups were determined using a Kruskal-Wallis test. The dotted lines on each graph represent the threshold above which samples were considered as positive responders.
