From: Giant rhyolite lava dome formation after 7.3 ka supereruption at Kikai caldera, SW Japan

Lavas at the surface of the central dome at the sites D1 (a) and R1 (b,c) in Fig. 2. The surface of lava dome consists of rhyolite blocks with water-chilled, tortoise-shell contraction cracks (b) and pillow lobe (c) structures. A photograph (a) was supplied from NHK.
