Energy–strain curves calculated by first-principles tensile tests for four parts of (a) glycan chain, where (a–d) correspond to the four parts (a–d) of a glycan chain shown in supplemental Figure S2. Blue, red and green lines show results of glycan chain interacting with no Au, flat Au (FG) or nanoporous Au (NPG) (−5% strain), respectively. The interaction energy of the glycan chain with NPG is greater than those with no Au and with FG in all four parts.
