The purple dot denotes the location of Chang’an (Today’s Xi’an in Shaanxi province of China), the capital of Han Dynasty of China. Chang’an is the starting point of ancient Silk Road. The CRU precipitation data were obtained from University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit (http://catalogue.ceda.ac.uk/).
