Impact of deletion of ampD and pepO on invasion of cells by F. novicida in vitro. RAW264.7 cells were infected with the wild-type U112 strain or its derivatives at an MOI of 100:1 for 2 h. After treatment with 100 μg/ml gentamycin for 1 h, the infected cells were lysed and spread on TSA plates for enumeration. The values are mean percent of internalized bacteria relative to the wild-type U112 strain ± SD of the results from triplicate samples as compared with those of the wild-type U112 strain. The experiment was repeated twice. Statistical significance was determined by one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) test. ***p < 0.001.
