Evaluation of immunogenicity of E-based VLPs in BALB/c mice. Single immune sera from BALB/c mice (n = 6 per group), immunised with T-mVLPs (solid curves), B-mVLP mix (dashed curves) or M-VLP mix (dotted curves), all adsorbed on alhydrogel, collected 2 weeks after the last dose (days 0, 30 and 90), were analysed by indirect ELISA using all four DENV E (top four panels) or all four EDIII (as MBP fusions) proteins (bottom four panels), as coating antigens. In each of the panels, DENV serotypes 1, 2, 3 and 4, are indicated in magenta, green, blue and black, respectively. Mock-immunised (PBS on alhydrogel) BALB/c serum is represented in gray in all the eight panels. Data points represent geometric mean absorbance values (n = 6) with the error bars denoting SD. The ELISA response curves were essentially similar using pooled sera, analysed in parallel, from the three immunisation groups (Supplementary Fig. S3 and Table S1).
