Chitin amplifies type 2 cytokine production. C57BL/6-wild-type (a) or C57BL/6-Il13^tomato/+ (b,c) mice were repeatedly intranasally sensitized with OVA, chitin, OVA + chitin or saline alone, and then challenged intranasally with OVA. Twenty-four h after the last OVA challenge, samples were collected for the following experiments. (a) The levels of cytokines in BALFs were determined by ELISA. (b,c) The proportion and number of IL-13-tomato-positive cells in CD45⁺ CD4⁺ cells and CD45⁺ lin^- ST2⁺ cells in the lungs (b) and BALFs (c) were determined by FACS.
