Phage typing using multiplex PCR. Unique fragments of phage genomes were amplified using a mix of primers complementary to the conserved genomic regions of 936- and c2-type phages. Arrows indicate the 936-type-specific band of 179 bp. Lane 1: 1-kb DNA Ladder (Fermentas), lanes 2–9: DNA fragments generated from respective phage lysates, lane 10: DNA fragment generated from phage sk1 lysate as a positive control for 936-type, lane 11: DNA fragment generated from phage c2 lysate as a negative control for 936-type.
