Arrows indicate the position of the fluorescence signal corresponding to the plasma membrane contour. Numbers in the profile panels indicate the values of the fluorescence intensity ratios obtained dividing the averaged fluorescence of the image pixels corresponding to a line traced on top of the cell edge (see Suppl. Fig. 2 for details) by the averaged fluorescence in the internal cell area.
