CD49fhigh sub-populations displayed functional properties to form mammospheres. Cells dissociated from pubertal bovine mammary tissue were sorted according to the level of expression of both CD49f and CD24. The resulting epithelial cell sub-populations were cultured in Matrigel during 7 days to assess the formation of mammospheres. Images are representative of three independent experiments (3 cows).
