(a) Study area (≈25,000 km2) on the Gaspésie peninsula, with existing protected areas and proposed new biodiversity reserves, and the ranges of the three caribou subpopulations (L = Logan, A = Albert and M = McGerrigle). The Gaspésie National Park, in the north-west, is the largest protected area (802 km2). Caribou ranges were delineated by an 80% kernel density of VHF and GPS locations.
