The effect of DSF on the ALDH+ TIC population. (A) DSF/Cu significantly decreased the ALDH+ but not the CD44+/CD24− TIC population in 4T1 cells in a dose dependent manner. (B) DSF/Cu significantly decreased the ALDH+ but not the CD44+/CD24− TIC population in MDA-MB468 cells in a dose dependent manner. (C) DSF/Cu decreased the ALDH+ in a dose-dependent manner, but not the CD44+/CD24− TIC population in Pac-resistant SUM159 cells. (D) DSF/Cu mixture, but not DSF or Cu2+ alone, significantly resulted in significantly decreased tumorsphere formation in 4T1 cells. For panel (A–D), one-way ANOVA followed by multiple comparisons was used with P < 0.05 as statistically significant. (E) Results of limiting dilution analysis for secondary sphere formation of 4T1 cells with and without DSF/Cu treatment.
