  1. Data on metabolic status were collected on ALL survivors (n = 16) and age- and gender-matched controls (n = 8). ALL survivors were stratified in 2 groups according to their metabolic status as described in Methods (n = 8/group). Mets was defined per the NCEP ATP III (SOURCE), with the following cut-offs: (i) waist circumference >88 cm for women and >102 cm for men, (ii) HDL-C <1.29 mmol/L for women and <1.03 mmol/L for men, (iii) systolic blood pressure >130 or diastolic >85 mmHg, (iv) fasting blood glucose >6.1 mmol/L. Results are presented as Mean ± SEM. BP: blood pressure, CRP: C-reactive protein, FBG: fasting blood glucose, MDA: malondialdehyde, MetS: metabolic syndrome, OGTT: oral glucose tolerance test; *p < 0.05 vs Controls, #p < 0.05 vs Healthy.
