Immune response to photoreceptor degeneration can be identified and captured using FACS. After retinal dissociation, cells were detected using side scatter (SSC) and forward scatter height (FSC-H); cells that were alive (Live/Dead NIR low) and double positive for CD11b and CD45 were captured for single-cell mRNA sequencing. Green box indicates CD11b+CD45high population, which was far larger in the degenerating sample. Black polygon encompasses cells captured for single-cell transcriptomics.
