Pre- and posttest probability after PCT for AKI development in critically ill patients. Posttest probability was calculated based on pretest probability and the likelihood ratio: posttest odds = pretest odds × likelihood ratio. The graph shows that for a patient with a pretest probability of AKI of 36~67%, the posttest probability will be 44~74% following a positive test result (PCT >0.315 ng/ml) and 28~58% following a negative test result (PCT ≤ 0.315 ng/ml).
