S. aureus and P. aeruginosa sessile viability in mono- and co-culture biofilms under normoxia and anoxia. Bacteria were grown in 96-well flat bottom plates either individually or in a 1:1 ratio for 24 h at 37 °C under static normoxia or anoxia. Biofilms were washed, detached, vortexed, serially diluted and plated onto selective agar for quantification. Bars represent the mean ± S.E.M of three individual experiments (N = 3), each performed in triplicate.
