Effect of the flavonoids on ERE driven reporter gene expression. Cells were transfected with 3XERE/3XERRE- firefly luciferase and renilla luciferase constructs. Cells were treated with DMSO (0.05%), 10 nM E2 and 5 µM flavonoids for 24 h. Firefly luciferase activity was normalized against renilla. The normalized luciferase activity in cells treated with DMSO (vehicle control) was set to 1 and those obtained with other treatments were expressed relative to the control (Fold change). Bars represent mean Fold change ± SD (n = 3 biological replicates; each biological replicate comprising of two dishes each for control and treatment groups). Data were analysed by ANOVA followed by Tukey’s HSD (***p < 0.001, *p < 0.05).
