Hair bundle and presynaptic protein study of new HCs. (a) Basilar membrane preparation of mouse cochleae 2 weeks following 5-aza and saline treatment. Untreated normal hearing mice serve as a control (arrowheads showing W-shape of OHC hair bundles). Fluorescent phalloidin was used to label F-actin of HCs in the surface preparation. OHCs were absent in the saline group (arrows). Compared with the untreated group, the 5-aza group showed disorganized hair bundles (arrowheads). Scale bar: 10 µm.
