From: CD44/CD133-Positive Colorectal Cancer Stem Cells are Sensitive to Trifluridine Exposure
Schematic view of the efficacy of FTD treatment on CD44+ CD133+ cells. FTD is effective against cancer stem cell (CSC)-like (CD44+ CD133+) cells, but CSC-like cells show resistance toward 5-FU. FTD could be readily incorporated into the DNA of CSC-like cells. Consequently, FTD might exert an anti-sphere-forming effect on CSC-like cells, unlike 5-FU.
