Genetic deletion of S6k1 does not alter fed and fasted blood glucose and insulin levels in the R6/2 mouse model of HD. (a) Male and (b) female mice fed and fasted blood glucose levels were measured at 20 weeks of age. Deletion of S6k1 did not reduce the elevated blood glucose observed in R6/2 mice in the fed or fasted state. Males n = 6–8/genotype and females n = 7–10/genotype. ns = non-significant and P > 0.999 for all. (c) Male and (d) female R6/2 and R6/2 × S6k1−/− insulin levels were unaltered. Males and females n = 5/genotype. Data were analysed with GLM univariate with Bonferroni correction and are presented as mean ± SEM.
