(a) Before 2004, the disease specific death of patients with TC and initial distant metastasis who were diagnosed by asymptomatic screening and clinical symptoms did not show a statistically significant difference (P = 0.566). (b) When the diagnostic symptoms were divided into local and systemic symptoms, only diagnosis with clinical symptoms showed a significantly poorer prognosis (P = 0.001).
