Representative images of the wound edge of CFBE cells, at different magnification, after peptide treatment compared to Ctrl. CFBE cells were seeded in the compartments of silicon chambers placed on glass coverslips. After removal of chambers, samples were treated for 12 h with 10 μM Esc(1–21) or 1 μM Esc(1–21)-1c. Subsequently, cells were fixed and stained for nuclei and cytoskeleton visualization. Unlike untreated Ctrl, each peptide advanced the formation of cytoplasmic protrusions (indicated by the arrows) in migrating cells along the edge of the pseudo-wound produced in both wt-CFBE and F508del-CFBE monolayers.
