Whole liver mapping (LM) process. Diabetic recipient monkeys received islets isolated from donor monkeys through portal vein infusion. After transplantation, the whole liver of the monkey that achieved normal blood glucose levels without exogenous insulin was prepared and divided into segments. The divided liver segments were sliced with uniform size and order based on anatomic features of the monkey. Paraffin slides were produced from the uniformly sliced tissue for immunohistochemistry analysis.
