Scheme of Apolipoprotein A-I primary structure. Apolipoprotein A-I is synthesised as a 267 amino acid protein (immature ApoA-I) and released as a proprotein into the circulation after the cleavage of the signal peptide. ProApoA-I contains a 6 amino acid propeptide located at N-Terminal end of the protein that is cleaved to give rise to mature ApoA-I.
