The indigenous process of destructive palm sap tapping practice in the savanna area of Côte d’Ivoire for palm wine production from ron palm (Borassus aethiopum) (A), raffia palm (Raphia hookeri) (B) and oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) (C). Perforation of the apical meristem of the tree trunk is in practice for sap tapping from ron palm and raffia palm, whereas the oil palm tree is uprooted before tapping.
