Upper panel shows the input current, consisting on 30 ns pulses with a 150 ns period. Bottom panel shows the output current through the gap. There is an integration time between the moment the pulses are applied and the moment the IMT is triggered. RLoad = 10 kΩ, VDC = 0.88 VTh and T = 325 K. No firing occurs after the last pulse because the neuron is in its refractory period (indicated with a grey shaded area). (c) Probability that the device will fire after a certain number of pulses.
