The vessel (a), sclerenchyma (b), and parenchyma (c) cells (N = 3) were extracted from the measured block and segmented using a machine learning approach. The cell wall (blue) and lumen (yellow) were separated, showing the heterogeneous character of these cellular compartments. The morphological dissimilarities between wild type cells (left) and C4H mutant cells (right) are also evident in these images.
