(a,b) Minimal intramural collagen scar was detected in the P1 sham (n = 4) and P1 MI hearts (n = 6). (c) No difference was observed among P1 sham and P1 MI hearts in the quantified percentage of collagen area relative to total left ventricular area. (d,e) Transmural collagen scar and adverse left ventricular remodeling were observed in the P7 MI hearts (n = 3) compared to sham controls (n = 3).
