Batch fermentation. The fermentation conditions were kept at 32 °C, pH 5.5. Terranol’s cV-110 yeast strain was used with a total pitch of 1 g/L i.e. 1 g/L initially in the batch. The initial batch was composed of 1 L wheat straw hydrolysate (71 g/L glucose, 40 g/L xylose, 6.5 g/L acetic acid) supplemented with urea at a concentration of 3 g/L.
