(A,C–H) Seven anterior cranial base surface models of a CBCT scan from group B extracted using different thresholds (A: reference threshold, C: +20, D: +40, E: +60, F: −20, G: −40, H: −60). The blue colour in image A defines the exact anterior cranial base structure that was used in the study (black arrow, B). This included the upper surface of the major, central part of the anterior cranial fossa floor, of the sphenoid and the frontal bone, as well as the anterior clinoid processes. The midline structures, especially of the ethmoid bone were excluded.
