Aberrant intrusion of horizontal cell processes into the outer nuclear layer is not observed in 3-month-old Bbs8^{floxed/floxed}; Rho-Cre⁺ mice with retinal degeneration. Three-month-old Bbs8^{floxed/floxed}; Rho-Cre⁺ mice have a statistically significant reduction in the thicknesses of their outer nuclear layers (a). However, despite retinal degeneration, the outer nuclear layers of Bbs8^{floxed/floxed}; Rho-Cre⁺ mice are largely devoid of aberrantly intruding horizontal cell processes (b,c).
