Values represent mean ± SEM of n = 9 for fetal carotid (open circles) and femoral (closed circles) arterial blood samples at the start (“− 30”) and end (“0”) of the baseline period; the midpoint (“15”) and end (“30”) of the period of uterine handling and the end of the recovery period (“60”). Significant differences are: *P < 0.05, for each timepoint when compared to timepoint “− 30”, assessed using a repeated-measures (RM) one-way ANOVA with post hoc Bonferroni test. The P value quoted in the final column is the overall significance of the RM ANOVA with Glasshouse–Geisser correction for the effect of time.
