Pathogenicity of representative strains of H5 LPAIVs in mice, indicated by changes in body weight. BALB/c mice (n = 5 per group) were challenged with 106 50% egg-infective doses per animal of each virus. Changes in body weight were observed for 14 days. No mortality occurred. Data points indicate means, and error bars indicate SEM. Data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA with Bonferroni’s post-test. Asterisks indicate statistical significance of the difference in body weight between naïve mice and mice infected with A32-3/17 (H5N2) virus (**p < 0.01; ***p < 0.001).
