Panels (G) through (I) are from a third set of recemented oysters (C to C′). Red dashed lines indicate the area of attachment between two individuals. Red arrows point to small chalky deposits that are located near this border, but are still found within the periostracum of an individual. Scale bars are 1 cm unless otherwise noted.
