(A) Live/dead assay of brain spheroids, incubated with Au-Click-FAM ultrasmall gold nanoparticles or FAM-alkyne molecules. Scale bars 200 µm. The green fluorescence shows living cells, the red fluorescence shows dead cells. (B) ATP production in brain spheroids after treatment with Au-Click-FAM nanoparticles (NPs) or dissolved FAM-alkyne (100%: ATP production in untreated spheroids). There was no significant difference in the ATP production after 30 min and 24 h.
