Phylum shown with an asterisk symbol represent groups containing microbes identified in higher concentrations in CKD patients compared to healthy patients. These include Verrucomicrobia, Gammaproteobacteria, Enterobacteriacea, Methylobacterium and Desulfovibrio (of the Proteobacteria phylum), Leptospira (of the Spirochaetes phylum), and Holdemania, Turicibacter and Clostridium sensu stricto (of the Firmicutes phylum).
