A SXRF (synchrotron X-ray fluorescence) image in the same general region showing periodic fluctuations in Ca concentration. The plot across the blue transect is ~ 35 µm long and shows ~ 7 peaks and troughs (from left to right) in Ca concentration that fluctuate between 402,000 and 417,000 ppm.
