Model for dsx-H functions in the regulation of wing pattern in males and females as well as the reproductive and life history traits in males and females. Evolution of the mimetic allele of dsx is accompanied by physiological cost through pleiotropy. The cost–benefit balance affects the evolution and maintenance of mimicry.
