B. subtilis ΔglpD and Δaro mutants have attenuated PGLYRP4-induced depletion of thiols (a), exogenous menaquinone (MK) increases PGLYRP4-induced depletion of thiols in these mutants (b), and MK synthesis inhibitor DPA attenuates PGLYRP4-induced depletion of thiols, which is restored by addition of exogenous MK (c).
