The effect of atorvastatin (ATV) on the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines in human RPE cells. The levels of IL-6, IL-8, and MCP-1 were measured following the 24 h (A–C) or 48 h (D–F) exposure to ATV with or without additional exposure to LPS for 24 h. The results are represented as fold of control, which was set to be 1. Results are combined from 4 independent experiments with 4 parallel samples per group in each experiment (A–C) and from 3 independent experiments with 4 parallel samples per group in each experiment (D–F) and shown as mean ± SEM. *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01, ***P < 0.001, ****P < 0.0001, ns not significant, Mann–Whitney U-test.
