Effect of direct BPA exposure on the viability of primary hippocampal cells. Primary hippocampal cells were isolated from male and female neonatal rat pups that were not exposed to BPA and treated with 0.01, 0.1, 1, or 10 ng/mL BPA or vehicle control for 48 h. MTS assays were then performed to determine the number of viable cells. *,#P value < 0.05. *Indicates a statistically significant difference between the BPA treatment and the vehicle control groups. #Indicates a statistically significant difference between males and females treated with the same concentration of BPA.
