In silico prediction of miRNA binding sites within RUNX2 3’UTRs in AMH, Neandertal and Denisovan. The picture shows the nucleotide changes (highlighted in red) identified in the untranslated regions (UTRs) at the 3’ ends of RUNX2 transcripts in Neandertal and Denisovan hominins compared with that of anatomically modern humans (AMH). The substitutions are apparently able to modify the pattern of miRNA binding both in the proximal 3’UTR (a) and in the distal 3’UTR (b).
