Distribution of AQP4 in endfeet of Cx43 transgenic mice. (a) Histograms showing size distributions of all AQP4 particles measured in each genotype. (n = 4 mice, 6–10 images and -2000–3000 particles analyzed from each genotype). (b) Particle densities for AQP4 in perivascular domains from each genotype. Dots represent four individual brains, from which 6–10 sections were analyzed. Note that density of AQP4 particles in perivascular regions was negatively correlated with Cx43 expression in the various genotypes [Cx43(+/+) > Cx43(+/−) > Cx43(Δ/−) > Cx43(−/−)]. (c) Sizes of the particles were relatively constant among the genotypes, with only the Cx43(+/−) differing from the dKO (n = 4 mice, 6–10 images analyzed from each genotype).
