(A) The first (31P{1H}) NMR spectrum clearly shows the presence of only one phosphorus containing compound and the absence of soman on the reaction residue. But the chemical shift is observed to be in the region of O-alkyl alkylphosphonic acids. (B) The second (31P-1H) correlation NMR spectrum clearly shows the presence of pinacolyl methylphosphonic acid (PMPA). Conclusively identification was performed by recording the spectrum standard addition of PMPA to the reaction mixture (not shown in the figure).
