Expression of SIRT1 was evaluated by western blot analyses. HCECs (A) and HCjECs (B) were treated with 100 μg/mL of TiO2, CB, ZnO, and SiO2 NPs for 6 h. A representative example of a western blot gel image is shown at the top left of each figure (full length blot is presented in Supplementary Fig. 2). β-actin was used as an internal loading control. Results are expressed as a ratio to β-actin concentration and the mean ± standard deviation values of three independent experiments, each of which was carried out in triplicate. *p < 0.05 and **p < 0.001 vs. untreated controls.
